Nel 1775 Crepy stampa il gioco "Le Nouveau Jeu des Cris de Paris dédié aux Amateurs" ; nel 1805 un altro gioco con analogo soggetto e con titolo "Nouveau jeu des Cris de Paris dédié aux amateurs" viene stampato da Jean (44 caselle). Nel 1808 Basset stampa la terza versione con titolo "Nouveau jeu bruiant des cris de Paris, de ses faubourgs et environs".

Quarante-trois cases, toutes consacrées aux crieurs des rues: la quarante-troisième represente le marchand d'aiguilles pour les femmes et les filles; aux quatre angles des scènes de guinguette et des décorations de fetes populaires. Le vin, à cette epoque, n'était pas moins cher qu'aujourd'hui, car le crieur colportait l'excellent vin de Bourgogne, qui rougit la trogne, à huit sous le litre. H. 0m,480. L. 0m,600.

These two virtually identical sheets are the third, 43-space, version of a game originally issued by Crépy in 1775 under the title "Le nouveau jeu des cris de Paris dédié aux amateurs", the second being an analogous game of 44 spaces issued by Jean in 1805, with the title "Nouveau jeu des Cris de Paris dédié aux amateurs".
Each space illustrates one of the ‘town cries’ of Paris, beginning with the bill-sticker and ending with the itinerant vendor of needles for ladies and girls. D’Allemagne states that the illustrations are taken from a 16th-century set, now in the Bibliothèque de l’Arsenal. In a long section of his book [D’Allemagne 1950: 99-124], he gives an explanation of each of the cries, linking some to illustrations of similar subjects by Vernet. The game is of the goose type, but with the favourable (doubling) spaces on 7,14,21 etc. The hazard spaces are not reminiscent of those of Goose: they involve paying tokens to the other players and/or missing turns.

This popular game draws on an iconographical tradition, which was shared throughout Europe for over 300 years. ‘Cries’ were sung by street traders in order to advertise and sell their wares from the Middle Ages up to the First World War. Representations of these merchants and their street cries were common in prints, drawings, paintings, poetry, literature and theatre. The images capture an aspect of urban living, and reflect the ancient connection between work and song. The game starts with the poster-seller and ends with the loudest of the criers, a seller of women's hair decorations. The cries of the different street sellers would have been familiar to players and may even have been sung aloud as part of the game.
