This is a classic Game of the Goose, beautifully designed and made, and played strictly according to the traditional rules, based on an English game of c. 1725. Barbara Sampson is a British watercolor artist who has illustrated books and designed games and puzzles for the children’s toy market. James Galt was born at Stewarton in Ayrshire, Scotland, and set up as a stockist of educational materials in Manchester in 1836. In the 1850s his company expanded into printing and publishing, and in 1957 it moved from Manchester to Cheadle in Cheshire. In 1961 the Galt Toys division was formed and is still producing high-quality toys.
