Negli angoli personaggi che suonano strumenti musicali e in alto a destra che giocano al gioco dell'oca; al centro tavolo da gioco con giocatori. REGOLE: in basso. CASELLE: mute. This New and Entertaining Goose Game is of classic form but is most remarkable for its incidental iconography copied from an earlier Flemish goose game of about 1690, which depicts a disreputable tavern in which gaming is taking place. In the center, two men are playing at some form of backgammon, watched by a woman. They are being robbed by boys or young men, one of whom surreptitiously empties a hip flask into a cup while the other prepares to cut a gamester’s purse. In the top right corner, three men are playing Goose on a barrel head. To their left, a man approaches a four-poster bed, suggesting that the tavern is also a brothel.
